A little bit about West Villa –

West Villa first began 35 years ago when the Fawcett family bought the farmhouse and decided to turn it into a 7-bed residential home where they lived on site. On 1st August 1991 the Jones family took over the home.

Today the home with its attractive décor and cosy atmosphere can accommodate 32 residents for long- and short-term care needs. There are 32 spacious bedrooms all furnished with comfort in mind, of which 22 have ensuites. We do encourage residents to personalise their own rooms, so it feels like the home they are used to. Each room is fitted with state-of-the-art wireless nurse call, so any assistance is available 24/7.

The communal area provides a homely environment for the residents to enjoy and consists of the quiet lounge, a garden room, a second lounge and a dining room.

The large private garden can be enjoyed daily by the residents which now also includes a vegetable patch.  During the summer months many residents like to spend their entire days outside under the close supervision of our care team making the most of the sunshine and the fresh air. Or some residents like to help the laundry staff peg the washing out and watch it blow as it reminds them of their younger days. Making the residents feel at home and as comfortable as possible is of upmost importance.

However, the level of care needed for quality of life can be extremely challenging especially when dealing with Dementia as it is such an unpredictable condition. We can be that help and put your mind at ease.

We promote family and friend involvement as we believe it is key to ensuring the residents are happy and settled. To encourage this West Villa hosts specific events for the residents to enjoy with their families and friends.

With the introduction of iPad technology even if families/friends are unable to attend and visit face to face we can make sure this important communication continues with video calls.

Activities

We have a dedicated activities team devoted to providing a wide range of stimulating activities that benefit the resident’s wellbeing. They offer a diverse plan that’s aids the residents mentally, physically and emotionally. The activities are person centred and can be carried out as a group or individually.

We offer the following –

  • Organising days out, such as meeting friends and family
  • Regular visits to the local pub, or a social club
  • Visits to watch the action at the local cricket or bowls club
  • Shopping trips
  • Visits to the hairdresser, nail bar or chiropodist, for some pampering (West Villa can provide a little bit of pampering with our on-site hairdresser who visits weekly. We also have a Chiropodist that visits bimonthly to ensure our resident’s feet are kept healthy – we only get one pair of feet so it’s important to take good care of them!!)
  • Meeting friends at a café for tea and cake
  • A visit to the cinema or theatre

If your loved one has a particular destination in mind, or specific interests, just let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements that will enable them to attend and live as full a life as possible.

**Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic West Villa will ensure all activities are risk assessed. **
